Sharp decline in reading and math scores of 9-year-olds during pandemic

According to a report by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), young school-age children in America were severely harmed by the political decisions to lock down the country and close schools during the pandemic. The study found that there was a sharp decline in reading and math scores for nine-year-olds. Breitbart provides more details: Released by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the new data shows nine-year-olds’ reading scores saw the steepest decline since 1990 (a full five-point drop) while math scores saw a record drop of seven points. The results were tracked by the special administration of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), which has often been referred to as the “nation’s report card.” […] Noting classroom disruption, violence, truancy, cyberbullying, and absent teachers also rose during the pandemic, Carr said a variety of factors “contextualize” the data. […] To make matters worse, students who were already struggling pre-pandemic suffered an even steeper drop compared to their counterparts, dropping an average of 12 points in reading and math. There are two stories about how woke, left-wing educators are trying to train your children. Not surprisingly these stories are out of New York and California. According to an article on Fox News, California educators are proposing a new curriculum that would have students chanting the names of Aztec gods of death, which people were sacrificed to sometimes by having their hearts cut out while they were still alive.

Marijuana’s mind games

[by Dean Smith] Dutch University Professor Olivier Marie and Ulf Zolitz of IZA recently released a study on the impact of marijuana usage at Holland’s Maastricht University. They discovered that students with easy access to marijuana had lower grades than those that didn’t. Holland legalized marijuana in 1976. Since people are only allowed to possess small quantities of the drug, this led to the rise of Cannabis cafes, where people could buy and partake. Holland has a 5 ounce possession limit compared to Colorado which allows over five times that amount. In 2011, Maastricht University introduced a curious law on campus where it only allowed Dutch, Belgian and German nationals to buy cannabis at the campus’ 13 cafes that sell the drug. It put the provision in place due to growing concerns about drug tourism.

The Quebec government wants to force Christians to teach paganism

In 2008, the Quebec government introduced a compulsory program — Ethics and Religious Culture — requiring schools including Catholic and private Christian/church schools in the province to teach all religions including paganism, Wicca and Christianity. The program also forbids teachers, including those in Christian schools, from presenting their personal views on the material. They must present all religions as “equally valid.” According to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom everyone has the freedom of religion and conscience and can’t be forced to compromise their religious convictions.
