As in the Days of Noah: Chimera?

In Jesus’ warning about the end times, the Lord stated that it will be like the days of Noah (Luke 17:26-27). And a recent story about how a group of scientists is mixing human DNA with Monkey DNA may be a sign we are entering these end of the age days. As we look through Genesis six that provides a picture of the days leading up to the world-wide flood, there are two things that defined this period. First, the world is described as being filled with violence (Genesis 6:11). I think we can check that off. Though I expect, what we are seeing today is just a foretaste of what is yet to come. Secondly, we read that God judged earth because of the marriages taking place between the sons of God and daughters of men that produced what appeared to be genetically superior humans referred to as “mighty men” and “men of renown” (Genesis 6:4). Who were these “sons of God”? Many believe they were actually angels as the phrase is used in …

It will get better once the police are gone [sarcasm]

With the calls to dismantle or defund the police, we only have to look to New York City, run by Mayor Bill de Blasio, to see what such a future holds. On June 15, 2020, Mayor de Blasio dismantled his undercover cop division. These were police who guarded the streets of New York in unmarked vehicles. Because of this, criminals and their ilk had to be careful because they never knew where the police were. However, once de Blasio ended this undercover division, due to the calls to disband the police, things have only improved [sarcasm]. The New York Post explains: Gun violence exploded across the city after the NYPD disbanded its anti-crime unit of plainclothes cops on June 15, with three times as many shootings in the last two weeks of the month over the same period in 2019, police stats show. And the shocking rise in gunfire — to 116 incidents from 38 between June 15 and June 2, a 205 percent increase — meant scores more victims were hurt or killed by …

As in the Days of Noah: Three warnings from the church shooting in Texas

There might be three things that we can take away from the violent church shooting that took place at the West Freeway Church of Christ, in White Settlement, Texas on Sunday, December 29, 2019. A transient walked into the church during the service and opened fire killing one person and critically injuring another, before being killed by the church’s armed security guard. It was a disturbing act of violence, but is part of a trend of violent attacks against churches in recent years: June 2015: A man walks into a Bible study of Emmanuel African Methodist Church in Charleston with a gun killing nine. September 2017: One person was killed and seven people wounded after a gunman started shooting at a church in Nashville, Tennessee. November 2017: 26 people were killed, and 20 wounded, when a gunman opened fire at a church service at the First Baptist Church in Sunderland Springs, Texas So what exactly is going on? As in the Days of Noah Jesus warned in his description of the end times, that in …

As in the Days of Noah — ISIS slaughters 28 Egyptian Coptic Christians?

On Friday, May 26, 2017, a group of Egyptian Coptic Christians were traveling by bus to pray at a monastery when they were attacked by Muslim extremists. Their destination was the Monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor located a hundred miles south of Cairo, Egypt. At least 28 were killed when the bus and an accompanying half ton truck were stopped by three SUVs containing upwards of ten ISIS militants. After storming the bus, the masked extremists demanded the people on board recite the Muslim profession of faith called the shahada: La ilaha illa Allah wa-Muhammad rasul Allah. English: There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the prophet of Allah. When they were unable to do this, the heavily armed militants opened fire killing. In addition to the deaths, they wounded at least 22. TV images of the attack showed the bus riddled with bullet holes and its seats covered in blood. Coptic Christians make up about 10% of Egypt’s population of 94 million and over the last several years have been under …
