Free speech beats Big Tech in Texas court case

Free speech was the big winner and Big Tech was the big loser in a recent Texas court case. Two organizations had taken the state of Texas to court after it passed a law banning Social media corporations, with over 50 million monthly users, from censoring speech on their platforms based on the user’s political leanings. PJ Media provides more details: On Sept. 9, 2021, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 20 into law. In a statement, Abbott summarized the new law: “House Bill 20 prevents social media companies with more than 50 million monthly users banning users simply based on their political viewpoints. The law also requires several consumer protection disclosures and processes related to content management on the social media sites to which the bill applies. These sites must disclose their content management and moderation policies and implement a complaint and appeals process for content they remove, providing a reason for the removal and a review of their decision. Is Big Tech trying to buy off everyone?

There is an old saying, he who pays the piper calls the tune. The Heritage Foundation is a conservative think tank that promotes “the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom and traditional American values.” And recently the organization’s CEO announced that in 2020, the Heritage Foundation turned down two large donations from Big Tech.

Florida’s plan to fight back against Big Tech censorship

In a recent speech, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis revealed several measures that he will be implementing to protect the citizens of Florida from Big Tech censorship. People are starting to fight back against the rogue actions of Social media giants that are censoring free speech and targeting conservative and religious voices. Breitbart explains: In a 45-minute speech, the governor identified Big Tech companies as the leading threat to American democracy and freedom of expression today, and pledged that Florida Republicans would take action. Did Google become ‘big brother’?

Concerning news out of Australia has many warning again, that Big Tech’s powers must be reined in. A recent report alleges that Google, easily the largest search engine on the internet, was experimenting with ways to block access to news sites in that country. It was responding to the Australian government that is considering having Big Tech companies such as Google and Facebook pay for links to local news sources.

Why is Instagram censoring Sean Feucht’s worship videos?

According to CBN, Sean Feucht, a worship leader associated with Bethel Music, recently shared several social media posts that Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are now censoring worship and praise videos. Apparently, Feucht was going to places where there has been rioting and then posting videos of praise and worship from these locations. And while these social media corporations allowed posts of actual rioting, somehow praise and worship songs was considered insensitive or harmful and removed.
