Will the Biden administration be targeting Christian universities and colleges?

Bob Eitel, president of the Defense of Freedom Institute and a former senior counselor to the secretary of Education, is warning the Biden administration may soon be targeting Christian universities and colleges, the Washington Examiner reports. Eitel raised this concern after the Biden administration announced plans to revisit regulations that impact accreditation and student loans for schools of higher learning. In 2020 then President Donald Trump instituted several changes that allowed Christian schools to function freely according to their faith. This prevented regulators from forcing religious institutions to compromise their values on non-academic issues such as abortion to maintain their eligibility for accreditation and student loan eligibility. “That the Biden Education Department would take it upon themselves to undo that consensus doesn’t make any sense,” Eitel said in his interview with the Washington Examiner. “[And] given some of the anti-faith postures taken by the department in the Biden administration on issues of religion and faith and culture, anybody who attends a faith-based institution should be very concerned about what the department might do.” In an …

Will we all soon be needing a horse and cart?

If I understand the global warming cult correctly, we need to go electric in order to save the planet. If we do that, then according to their propaganda, the world will start cooling off. This is why woke, left-wing governments, with not a lick of commonsense, are legislating an end to gas-powered vehicles. READ: U.S. government to end gas-powered vehicle purchases by 2035 under Biden order AND Goodbye gasoline cars? EU lawmakers vote to ban new sales from 2035 But here is the problem, electric-powered vehicles of every type hate cold weather, so that means these problems will only get worse if the world starts cooling. Apparently, a city’s electric LRT system was completely taken out by an ice storm. READ: Update: LRT service won’t be fully restored until at least Tuesday Another man complained that his Tesla wouldn’t charge because the weather was too cold, causing him to miss a Christmas celebration. Three unusual pop-culture stories, with a Christian twist

In an article for Relevant Magazine, Jesse Carey shared eight of what she considers to be unusual pop culture stories, with a Christian emphasis. In this article, I want to share two of Carey’s examples that caught my attention, as well as one I came across while waiting for a physiotherapist appointment. Turning The Beatles into a Christian band? The first story involves John Lennon, a member of The Beatles, perhaps the most famous rock band of the 20th century. Lennon, along with Paul McCartney, co-wrote many of The Beatle’s greatest hits. Lennon was brutally murdered by Mark David Chapman in 1980. Though Lennon became involved in new age philosophy towards the end of his life, in a 1969 interview with Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Lennon said that he was hoping that at some point, The Beatles would turn into a Christian Band. Of course, Lennon is also known for stating that The Beatles were bigger than Jesus, a statement that he claimed was misunderstood. He was stating this was the reality of what was happening, …

Seattle school district sues Big Tech over mental health crisis

In an interesting move, a US public school district in Seattle, Washington is suing several social media giants alleging they are causing mental distress, anxiety, and depression among children, Breitbart reports. Included in the list of those being sued are the Chinese-owned TikTok, Facebook and Instagram which are owned by Meta, and also Snapchat, YouTube and Google. In a statement explaining its action, the school board said that it wants to hold “‘social media companies accountable for the harm they have wreaked on the social, emotional, and mental health’ of students.” “The increase in suicides, attempted suicides, and mental-health related emergency room visits is no coincidence,” the statement added. The statement also alleged that Big Tech has manipulated, “the psychology and neurophysiology of their users so that they spend more and more time on their platforms…creating a mental health crisis among young Americans.” READ: Big Tech sued by Seattle schools over mental health ‘crisis’ RELATED: Study: Social Media Causes Children to ‘Dislike Their Own Bodies’ AND Facebook Knows Instagram Is Toxic for Teen Girls, Company …

Canada: Two in critical condition after allegedly being shot by a man out on bail

Similar to what is happening in the US, alleged felons, who have been released on bail, go out and commit new crimes, including murder. In this incident reported by the Toronto Sun, the alleged attacker was out on bail for gun charges: Not even 24 hours after burying OPP Const. Greg Pierzchala, who was allegedly shot by a man who had skipped bail on gun charges, a major crime incident occurred in London on Thursday that saw a man in a retail store shot in the chest and his female co-worker hit in the head with a blunt object that sources say was a hammer. Both victims are in hospital in critical condition. The woke left’s soft-on-crime approach endangers innocent people. In a separate incident: READ: WARMINGTON: Yet another innocent person shot by gunman on bail People are demanding the names of judges who are making these decisions. One of the largest mass murders in Canadian history was committed by a man out on parole. Apparently, the parole board stated that Myles Sanderson would ‘not …

Do you spend time alone with God?

A recent survey conducted by Lifeway Research found that 65% of people who attend protestant churches have a daily devotional or time alone with God, with 21% saying they do it more than once a day, the Christian Post reports. Of the remaining 35%: The survey conducted in the last half of September 2022, pre-determined that those surveyed attended a protestant church at least once a month. The survey also found that when it came to devotionals 48% of women said they did it daily compared to 38% of men. These times included reading from the Bible or devotional and prayer. The importance of spending time alone with God It is interesting that Jesus emphasized the importance of being alone with God: “When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.” (Matthew 6:6a) He was comparing this to the Pharisees who liked to make a public display of their fasting and prayers (Matthew 6:16-18). But it can be difficult with our hectic schedules and myriad of …

While secular universities and colleges report declines, enrollment increases at Christian schools

While universities and colleges across America as reporting declines in attendance, the same can’t be said for Christian schools of higher education, the Daily Caller reports. The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center reports that since 2020, the number of students attending universities and colleges across the US has declined 4.2%. While it is easy to blame COVID for the decreased enrollment, there was also a 1.1% decline in the fall of 2022, when the pandemic was largely over. Meanwhile, over the same period of time, many Christian colleges and universities were reporting increases: So while it is easy to blame COVID for the reduced enrollment in secular schools, if it was solely to blame, then the Christian schools should have seen declines as well, but they didn’t. This tells us that other issues are also contributing to the declining attendance in secular schools.

Major empathy study concludes women are different from men

A major international study involving 300,000 participants has concluded that there are differences between men and women, the Christian Post reports. The study first reported in Fortune concluded that despite differences in ethnicity, nationality, language and age, women were on average more empathetic than men. “Our results provide some of the first evidence that the well-known phenomenon — that females are on average more empathic than males — is present in a wide range of countries across the globe” said David Greenberg, the study’s lead author from Israel’s IBar-Ilan University. “It’s only by using very large data sets that we can say this with confidence,” Greenberg added. The study further concluded that the difference is due in part to genetic variations between men and women: “On average, more men than women have a Type S brain type and more women than men have a Type E brain type. It is suggested that these brain types are caused by genetic and prenatal hormonal levels (2,3), as well as by environmental factors.” Coming to such conclusions in …
