CBN recently had a story on how the ex wife of an Hamas terrorist left Islam and become a Christian.
Juman Al Qawasmi was raised in a strict Muslim home and hated both Jews and Christians. Her father actually helped co-found Hamas that would go on to rule Gaza.
Her journey to Christ started because of the way Hamas brutally treated its own people after successfully winning the Gaza election in 2006.
Former US President, Jimmy Carter, actually headed a delegation that went to Gaza to oversee the voting.
Carter wrote, “Hamas proceeded a year later, 2007, to murder all their opposition in Gaza, literally throw them off the rooftops, massacre *Palestinians* from opposition parties in the streets. The writing was on the wall. In blood.“
As she watched the slaughter of fellow Muslims, Juman was struggling with her own personal faith. She didn’t feel there was anything she could do to make Allah like her. She had no confidence she was going to heaven.
“Islam does not give you peace,” she said. “And you’re always scared something wrong will happen.”
This led her to start praying, “God, if you exist, I want to know you. I want to meet you because I know deep inside there is a God.”
One night she had a dream. Jesus appeared and spoke to her in Arabic.
“I am the God, Jesus,” the Lord said, and then told Juman, “You are my daughter. Don’t be afraid.”
When she woke up. She had a peace in her heart and felt for the first time that God loved her. She then tried to find out more about Christ.
She eventually came across some Arabic Christian literature. The first thing it said at the top of the page was that people needed to love their enemies. This was such a stark contrast to the message of Islam.
After making contact with the group, she eventually became a Christian.
It reminds me a bit of the story about Pontius Pilate’s wife.
While Pilate was sitting in his judgment seat wrestling with what to do with Jesus, his wife sent an ominous warning.
“Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man,” she said, “for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him” (Matthew 27:19)
Because of her dream, she literally intervened in hopes of saving Christ. Pilate eventually caved to the demands of the Jewish leaders. Nevertheless, he tried to wash his hands over condemning an innocent man to death (Matthew 27:24).
Historical records identified Pilate’s wife as Claudia Procula, the daughter of Emperor Augustus. There is even a suggestion that she became a Christian. Some speculate that she may even have been the source of the information provided on Jesus’ trial.
