With a population of just over two million people, Guinea Bissau is a small country located on the Atlantic coast in North West Africa.
According to CBN, reports are coming in that a revival is breaking out in that country.
This news is significant for a couple of reasons. First, the country falls within what has been classified as the 10/40. This is a region of the world considered the most unreached with the Gospel, which means there are significant populations that have never heard of Jesus.
And secondly, with upwards of 70% of its population considered Muslim, Islam is becoming a dominating influence in the country both politically and culturally.
However, despite this Evangelist Jacob Ebersole, who heads World Harvest, is reporting massive turn outs and response during Evangelistic rallies recently held across the country.
During the initial meetings in the country’s capital city, Bissau, over 18,477 people made commitments to Christ at the rallies which even the country’s Muslim president attended.
“The President himself attended the first night as thousands came far and wide to hear the gospel. Some even traveled in canoes and boats on rough waters from islands off the coast to be a part of this. I’ve never seen anything like it before” Ebersole said.
It is also estimated that hundreds more could be coming to the Lord as individual believers are also actively sharing their faith.
But perhaps, the most noticeable feature of this revival is the impact that it is having on the youth.
After one of the prayer meetings on the open field where the crusade was being held, thousands of youth took to the streets of the country’s capital city singing songs and sharing their faith.
But it didn’t stop there. As World Harvest organized rallies at different cities, the youth begin travelling from the capitol to participate in the meetings across the country.
And they have had an impact, particularly in regions with a heavy Muslim influence.
“One influential businessman said that no one would come to a Gospel crusade because the city is almost 100% Muslim, plus it was during Ramadan,” Ebersole noted.
“After the crusade, that same man was shocked seeing that many came and hundreds of Muslims cried out to Jesus. He said we came to the ‘Lions Den’ and had a great victory. He said he has never seen anything like what he saw the Lord do there.”
