Peggy Jones was in the backyard of her rural Texas home on July 25, 2023, doing some yard work, when suddenly a snake dropped out of the sky and began to wrap itself around her arm, CBS reports.

Jone had no idea what was going on since there were no trees in this part of the yard for the snake to fall from.

Then a hawk suddenly descended from the sky and attacked the snake trying to drag it back up into the sky. At this point, the snake had securely wrapped around Peggy’s arm resulting in her arm being yanked upward.

At the same time the hawk was doing that, the angered snake was attempting to bite Peggy and hit her face a couple of times. Fortunately, it didn’t land a bite and only hit her glasses, but it did with such force it actually dented the frames.

Peggy began screaming for her husband who was working in the front yard and then called out “Jesus help me.”

The hawk which had unsuccessfully tried to grab the snake on its first attempt swooped down several more times flapping its wings in attempt to grab the snake. After successfully dislodging the snake on its fourth attempt, the hawk flew off.

With blood streaming down her arm, Peggy ran screaming to her husband. As she tried to explain what happened, her husband had no idea what she was talking about.

The resulting examination at the doctor’s office revealed several puncture wounds, abrasions, severe bruising and scratches on her arm. Though it didn’t appear the unidentified species of snake had bit her, Peggy was given antibodies just in case.

It appears that the hawk had been carrying the snake either in its beak or talon and dropped it as it was flying over Peggy.
