A strange thing happened after Jim Caviezel was chosen to play the role of Tim Ballard in Sound of Freedom, the story of Ballard’s fight to stop child sex trafficking, the Christian Post reports.

In an interview with Tim Pool, on Timcast IRL, producer Eduardo Verástegui said they ran into a bit of a problem with Caviezel’s wife after they said her husband would need to travel to Columbia for some of the shooting.

Caviezel’s wife, who had just seen ‘Narcos,’ the story of Pablo Escobar, a Columbian drug lord, was very much opposed to letting her husband travel to Columbia.

However, Verástegui was finally able to get her approval by hiring 30 ex-Navy Seals to provide protection during filming. The group was chosen by Tim Ballard and many of them had previously been involved in rescuing children from traffickers.

About two weeks into the filming in Columbia, Verástegui said they noticed that about half the ex-Navy Seals were not on the set.

Apparently, several had left the filming to help rescue 200 children from human traffickers in Cartagena.

“Thank God for Jim Caviezel’s wife who said ‘no’ in the beginning,” Verástegui said in the interview, “half of them rescued 200 children before the film was even finished.”
