On November 10, 2013, an interfaith musical was held at the “Memorial Church of the Reformation” in Speyer, Germany. The church serves as a memorial to Martin Luther, who started the reformation in Germany in 1517. His protest against the corruption in the Roman Catholic church at that time led to the formation of the breakaway protestant church.
The organizers had invited a Muslim imam to issue a call to prayer during the concert as part of this interfaith effort to unite Christians and Muslims.
When the little German woman Heidi Mund heard about the event, she felt she needed to do something and decided to attend the service even though it was an hour and half away. Heidi brought with her a German flag with the words, “Jesus Christ is Lord” written on it.
After she arrived, Heidi still wasn’t sure what she would do. But as she stood in the church’s balcony watching the imam starting to utter his prayer, an anger welled up insider her. Heidi stood up and yelled out “Jesus Christ is Lord of Germany.”
In an interview with CBN, Heidi said:
“I would call it holy anger. I rose with my flag and I was calling and proclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord over Germany. My purpose was, I broke this curse because [Muslims] say, ‘only Allah is the lord…’ and I broke this curse in this church and I broke it over my country.”
Heidi was immediately ushered out of the church. However, her proclamation which was videotaped has gone viral.
When asked if she was scared of possible retaliation by Muslim extremists, Heidi said:
“I’m not afraid of them. I know my God, the living God of the Bible can protect me for as long as He wants. When my time is over, I will go to Him. I feel I have to protect my country and my people. I am only a little woman, but I feel I have to protect them.”
It has been an interesting journey for Heidi who grew up in East Germany as an atheist and today stands boldly for God.
