Will Arizona lock down the state over the flu this fall?

As a result of a recent report by the CDC that 94% of people who died from Covid in the US had underlying health issues, many are questioning why whole countries and states were locked down when it was obvious that only the elderly and those with underlying health conditions needed to protected. READ: CDC: 6% of coronavirus deaths were solely from COVID-19 So many were absolutely shocked when Arizona state officials hinted that they may lockdown the state to battle the common flu, that regularly shows up each fall. You can decide for yourself if they implied this or not: From The Blaze: “[Arizona] State officials Monday laid out a plan for ‘aggressively’ combating the upcoming influenza season as the COVID-19 pandemic lingers, with the first step being to urge people to get a flu shot as soon as possible,” wrote the Copper Courier on Tuesday. “The state plans to increase funding for Medicaid recipients to get flu shots, combine flu-shot sites with coronavirus testing facilities, and more, while also advocating many of the …

Did the FLU goes MIA in the US?

Back in early January, before COVID-19 became the flavor of the day, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, told CNN that the 2019-20 flu season was going to be a bad one. Fauci said: “The initial indicators indicate this is not going to be a good season — this is going to be a bad season.” He added that it was on course to be as severe as the 2017-2018 flu season when over 61,000 people died from the flu. Nearly 51,000 of the deaths involved people who were 65 or older. READ: US on track for one of the worst flu seasons in decades

No conspiracy here: Death count for COVID-19 suddenly drops in Pennsylvania

The US state of Pennsylvania just recently removed hundreds of deaths from its COVID-19 count. Apparently some in the health department’s counting department had included “probable” deaths to the official COVID-19 death count. This resulted in a doubling of the number of deaths attributed to the Coronavirus. Of course, they were quick to point out that we shouldn’t treat this as some sort of conspiracy to jack up the death counts for COVID-19. READ: Pennsylvania forced to remove hundreds from COVID-19 death count over glaring irregularities It’s just a coincidence that ER doctors in California say they are being pressured to list COVID-19 as the cause of death on their reports, when it has not been confirmed. The flu has very similar symptoms to COVID-19 and during the 2017-2018 flu season, the CDC stated about 80,000 people died from the flu. READ: Flu season deaths top 80,000 last year, CDC says

Australia warns of a nasty flu season

If reports coming out of Australia are correct, this year’s flu season in the Northern Hemisphere could be particularly nasty. Of course, Australia is just finishing off its winter when the flu bug becomes the most prominent, and we in the north are just entering our winter season. A report on an Australian news site says this year was particularly bad with a record-setting 172,247 reported cases of the flu. Australia’s immunization Coalition (IC) states this is 156% higher than the number reported last year at the same time. IC suspects that this year’s estimate is undoubtedly low because the health system is under such stress they are behind in their reporting. It is uncertain what the final count will be. Doctors are also describing the flu as a “super strain” meaning it is more potent than what they had seen in the past. The elderly and very young are particularly vulnerable. So far doctors have recorded 288 deaths due to the flu, but again this is probably low. They advise people to get the …
