With one of the highest crime rates in America, it seems that Portland’s Democrat politicians have finally come to their senses. The Daily Mail reports that they are planning to refund the police after cutting $15 million from the department’s budget three years ago during the BLM’s Defund the Police hysteria. The result was a massive spike in the city’s crime rates and now the politicians are vowing to restore funding and hire more investigators and DAs to stem the flood of criminal behavior. But the problems in Portland wasn’t solely due to police funding cuts. It was compounded with the 2020 election of a new woke DA, Mike Schmidt, who decided a soft-on-crime approach was the best way to stop criminal behavior. This included scrapping minimum sentences, stopping the sentencing of juveniles in adult courts and using specialty courts to provide alternative sentencing arrangements. Survey finds that Americans who believe in God are happier

According to a survey conducted in March by the Wall Street Journal and NORC, faith in God results in better mental health, the Washington Stand reports. With concerns about the growing mental health crisis in the world, the survey found that only 12% of Americans said they were ‘very happy’. This is the lowest percentage of Americans to admit this since NORC started asking this question over 50 years ago. Just five years ago, nearly a third of Americans, 32%, stated they were ‘very happy’. Certainly, over the past three years, the world has faced several crisis situations, including COVID, the lockdowns, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, inflation, and growing fears about the economy. So while there are many reasons to be concerned, there was one characteristic that seemed to define the 12% who said they were ‘very happy’, nearly 70% of them said that they believed in God. Meanwhile, less than half of those who said they were ‘pretty happy’ or were ‘not happy’, reported believing in God, 47% and 42% respectively. These results …

Many years ago, the police union in our city went out on strike, I think legislation has since been passed preventing it from happening again. The union said police would still deal with major criminal offenses, but were refusing to enforce minor things like traffic violations or vandalism. For the first couple of days, everything continued normally. People obeyed the traffic laws. But as time passed it slowly began to break down.
