Study: Vitamin D supplements may help fight depression

A new study conducted by researchers from the University of Eastern Finland has concluded that vitamin D may help individuals deal with depression. The researchers came to this conclusion after analyzing the results of 41 studies that looked at the use of daily vitamin D supplements in combatting depression symptoms. The studies that included the use of placebos were conducted on individuals who struggled with depression, those who weren’t struggling from depression and those suffering from other physical issues. Study Finds wrote: Researchers say vitamin D regulates central nervous system disturbances associated with depression. Prior cross-sectional studies have linked vitamin D deficiency and symptoms of depression. However, previous meta-analyses on the effects of vitamin D supplementation on depression have been inconclusive, until now. “These findings will encourage new, high-level clinical trials in patients with depression in order to shed more light on the possible role of vitamin D supplementation in the treatment of depression,” notes Mikola. Iran? Russia? and maybe China? What is happening to our world?

The news is getting scary. You have probably heard that people in Iran are demonstrating against their government, and things are getting violent. The news, where I live, is that an army base has been attacked. In Russia, there are other problems. We know about the Russian army attacking Ukraine, a close neighbor. It’s now a complicated story, and the Government of Russia is bringing compulsory military service, to keep their effort going. Apparently, people in Russia are not happy about this, and they are demonstrating in the streets. Russia is the largest country in the world in terms of landmass. In China, things seem to be more peaceful, and there doesn’t seem to be a violent crisis. COVID lock-downs are still happening, but young adults are not getting married and having babies, and the population is declining. A younger generation of new adults is distracted by the stress of living, in their country. This may seem trivial, but over time, a smaller population will mean a smaller economy, and that will be a smaller …

Wyoming sued after threatening Christian ministry for not hiring non-Christian

The Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) is representing the Wyoming Rescue Mission (WRM) in its lawsuit against the Wyoming government after officials allegedly threatened the organization when it didn’t hire a non-Christian, WND reports. WRM not only provides food, shelter, and clothing to those in need, but its core message also includes having workers share the Gospel of Christ. The problem started when WRM did not hire a ‘self-proclaimed non-Christian’ to work in its Thrift store. WND explains: The dispute erupted when a “self-proclaimed non-Christian” was not hired for a position in the ministry’s thrift store, a position where workers are “expected to teach the mission’s Discipleship Recovery Program guests how to spread the gospel and model of Christ.” That failed candidate complained, and government officials now are claiming the ministry possibly violated the Wyoming Fair Employment Practices Act of 1965 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After the employee complained, the government ordered WRM to pay back pay and then stated it can not reject people because they are not Christians. …

Study: Americans $4,200 poorer since Biden became president

A study conducted by the Heritage Foundation has concluded that Americans are $4,200 poorer since Joe Biden was elected president in 2020, the New York Post reports. This is due to inflation and higher interest rates that resulted in living costs exceeding any wage increases over the past two years. The NY Post provides more details: Their analysis found that the average American has lost about $3,000 in annual purchasing power because consumer prices, which have risen 12.7% since January 2021, have spiked significantly faster the wages. Wages have risen just 8% over the same period, which has effectively resulted in a pay cut for Americans struggling to pay for daily necessities including food, gas and rent. Higher interest rates and borrowing costs have also reduced the average person’s purchasing power by another $1,200, according to the report. Simply put, working Americans are $4,200 poorer today than when Biden took office,” said EJ Antoni, a research fellow in regional economics with the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis. When were you called?

The 700 Club recently shared the testimony of how a homeless drug addict came to Christ after Jesus appeared to him. And what struck me as much as anything were the words that Christ spoke to this man. Joseph grew up in a dysfunctional home. Both his mom and dad were drunks and drug addicts and continually fought. His dad was also physically abusive. By the time he was five, his mother’s memory was starting to fail, and it finally reached the point, she could no longer remember who Joseph was, and he ended up being raised by his violent father. As he grew older, Joseph turned to drugs and became addicted to meth and cocaine. He then turned to selling drugs, which proved quite profitable. But after nearly being killed at the age of 28 in a robbery, Joseph sold everything he had and turned to living on the streets. A few months later, in an act of desperation, Joseph cried out to God asking why his life turned out the way it did. …

Study: Blueberries reverse cognitive decline in seniors?

There is no known medical cure for dementia. But a study conducted by researchers from the University of North Carolina suggests that eating blueberries every day can actually reverse cognitive decline in seniors, the Daily Mail reports. The researchers came to this conclusion after studying a group of 86 elderly people, aged 65 to 80. Half were provided with blueberry powder to mix with their food and half were provided with a placebo. An additional 43 people, who were experiencing no cognitive decline, were added to function as a control group for the study. The Daily Mail provides more details: Researchers found that those who consumed the blueberries each day had their mental processing speed greatly recover after the period. It was restored to the point that on average they had the same processing speed as the control group who reported no cognitive decline. Processing speed is the ability that the brain can store and then recall information. The researchers nots that it is key to all brain function – and its improvement shows an …

Meet Canada’s ‘misguided’ Attorney General

Someone, I personally know, worked as a counsellor for a youth drug rehab group in a major city for several years. I can’t tell you the number of funerals she has gone to for people who have died of drug overdoses, primarily from Fentanyl. This included more than one who went on one last binge before entering the program. But Canada’s Attorney General believes the real victims are the drug dealers. Blacklock’s Reporter writes: “Criminal law should not punish misguided drug dealers who just want to “put bread on the table,” Attorney General David Lametti said yesterday. Lametti made the comment in defending a cabinet bill to repeal mandatory minimum sentences for cocaine traffickers: “Did you talk to victims’ groups?” READ (Behind a paywall): Sorry For Misguided Dealers

Free speech beats Big Tech in Texas court case

Free speech was the big winner and Big Tech was the big loser in a recent Texas court case. Two organizations had taken the state of Texas to court after it passed a law banning Social media corporations, with over 50 million monthly users, from censoring speech on their platforms based on the user’s political leanings. PJ Media provides more details: On Sept. 9, 2021, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 20 into law. In a statement, Abbott summarized the new law: “House Bill 20 prevents social media companies with more than 50 million monthly users banning users simply based on their political viewpoints. The law also requires several consumer protection disclosures and processes related to content management on the social media sites to which the bill applies. These sites must disclose their content management and moderation policies and implement a complaint and appeals process for content they remove, providing a reason for the removal and a review of their decision. They also must review and remove illegal content within 48 hours. House Bill 20 also prohibits …

Study exposes hoax of climate change emergencies

A study entitled, “A critical assessment of extreme event trends in times of global warming” written by four Italian researchers and published this year in the European Physical Journal Plus is reporting that there is no climate emergencies due to Global Warming. The data shows that despite claims to the contrary we are not having more droughts, hurricanes, or more floods than we would normally expect. WND provides more details: But the research found there’s “no evidence of a climate emergency in the record to date. No evidence,” he said. Neither are the authors “deniers,” he pointed out, noting their recommendations to prepare to make adjustments and changes. But the study noted, “Fearing a climate emergency without this being supported by data means altering the framework of priorities with negative effects that could prove deleterious to our ability to face the challenges of the future, squandering natural and human resources in an economically difficult context.” […] The study continued, “Although evidence of an increase in total annul precipitation is observed on a global level, corresponding …
