[by Dean Smith] This is a cute video of a giant squid attacking a submarine in the Bering Sea. It is the body of water separating Russia and Alaska. The submarine was chugging by underwater when it was suddenly attacked by the squid, which flailed its ten tentacles at the sub.

In response, those on board the submarine, owned by Greenpeace, shone a bright light to try to scare off the squid. The light annoyed the squid even more and it attacked again, this time unleashing a massive ink blob at the submarine as well. The squid then swims away with both beast and submarine unharmed.

This is an interesting encounter considering down through history there have been reports of sailing vessels being attacked by giant squids. Historians and scientists have discounted these stories by ancient mariners as being little more than fables.
