Several years ago my wife and I received a prophetic word from Keith Hazell. Keith passed away in 2013, but he was one of a handful of people who I consider to be a full-blown prophet. Our church had brought him in for a time of prophetic ministry. He prophesied a number of things including that we would be writing. But then his prophetic word took an odd turn. He said that I had the ability to start a business. Then he added that God wasn’t saying that I should start a business, but only that I was capable of doing it. It is amazing how words people say can haunt you for decades. They hang like a dark cloud over your head. The damaging power of words

A playtime children chant “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words may never hurt me” leaves the impression words are harmless.  But in fact words have power and the Bible speaks clearly on the damage words can inflict on a person’s heart. There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword. (Proverbs 12:18a NASV) The Hebrew phrase “speaks rashly” refers to a word spoken “rashly” or “thoughtlessly.” It refers to words spoken with emotion. Words spoken in anger.
