Renown journalist returned to the Christian faith because it’s ‘really, really hard’

14 For if you forgive other people for their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive other people, then your Father will not forgive your offenses. (Matthew 6:14-15 NASV) In a recent interview with The Joe Rogan Experience, Michael Shellenberger, a renowned journalist who worked on the Twitter files shared how he has returned to the Christian faith. Shellenberger was raised in a congregational home but had fallen away from his faith, but he returned while writing his latest book, Apocalypse Never. But the reason he returned is fascinating. For decades, Christians have pushed the notion that Christianity is free and easy and all we have to do is believe Jesus died for our sins, but what actually attracted Shellenberger was how hard the Christian faith was. When he looked at the anger and divisions that are starting to break apart American society, Shellenberger realized that Christ’s message that we needed to love our enemies was the solution. But loving your enemies is hard. “What’s the remedy for this …

Christian ad, ‘Love Your Enemies’, second most engaged commercial during Super Bowl game

According to EDO, a Christian ad that ran during the Superbowl was the second most engaged ad during the NFL championship game, coming in second to a Warner Brother commercial about its upcoming movie, The Flash, CBN reports. EDO is a multimedia company that measures people’s engagement in ads. The 60-second black and white commercial entitled “Love Your Enemies”, was produced by He Gets Us, a Christian organization founded in 2022 to spread the news about Christ online through radio, TV and digital advertising. The organization is funded in part by Hobby Lobby CEO David Green and other donors. The ad predictably drew criticism from the radical left with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) tweeting “Something tells me Jesus would not spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign.” READ: ‘Love Your Enemies’: Jesus Ad Was Second-Most Engaged Commercial During Super Bow

Powerful testimony reveals no contradiction

One of the ways that atheists and their ilk attack the Bible is by exposing contradictions that they claim occur between the Old and New Testament. In the New Testament, Jesus said that we needed to love our neighbours as ourselves (Mark 12:31) and love our enemies (Matthew 5:44), while the Old Testament talks of an eye for an eye, projecting the idea of like punishment for crimes (Exodus 21:24). They claim these contradictory themes expose a flaw in the Bible’s message. However, in doing this, they make one fundamental error. The Old Testament involved the law set down for the nation of Israel and its courts, and Jesus’ message was personal. It was for the individual, you and me. While the individual needs to forgive any offence done to them, in the more serious cases, the nation must still dispense justice. And this was on display in the sad case involving Darrin Ray. In 2006, while studying counselling with the intent of entering the Christian ministry, Ray and his daughter were on their way …

The IRA vs Ulster Loyalists and Zealots vs Tax collectors: God brings hardened enemies together

An article on CBN, tells how the Holy Spirit is bringing together Catholics and protestants who were once deadly enemies in Northern Ireland. Belfast is the capital city of Northern Ireland and two decades ago it was the center of a violent conflict between Catholics and protestants as the Catholic Irish Republican Army (IRA) was seeking Northern Ireland’s independence from British rule. The Union Protestants loyal to the British government were literally in an armed conflict with the IRA trying to stop this from happening. War raged between the two factions for decades with British soldiers also thrown into the mix who were there to keep the peace. In 1998, a peace was reached between the warring factions and though the peace has held, there are still deep-seated resentments between the two groups. And today in Belfast there is a distinctive Catholic sector in the city marked by murals of the conflict twenty years ago. Though the two groups have put down their guns, God is trying to bring a heart-felt peace and a big …

The strange case of Kathie Lee Gifford and Howard Stern

In Matthew 5: 38-43, Jesus taught us how to deal with our enemies. It was strange advice. Christ said if a man hits you on the cheek, let him hit the other cheek and if a man takes your shirt then offer him your coat. It was the exact opposite of how we would want to react in these type of situations. So what was the purpose of this? I believe one of the things that Jesus was telling us is that we need to take the initiative, be proactive, in situations where we could be offended. God is calling us to make the peace. And this is exactly the situation that Kathie Lee Gifford found herself in with Howard Stern. Kathie, 64, is a singer, song writer, actress and co-host of NBC’s Today show. She is also an outspoken Christian. Howard Stern, 64, is a radio and television personality and is best known for the Howard Stern Show and has earned the reputation as a “shock jock.” On an episode of the Today show earlier …
