Did Chicago just threaten to bulldoze churches?
In an interview with Todd Starnes, Matt Staver, the founder of Liberty Counsel, a legal nonprofit dedicated to fighting for religious liberties, says that Chicago officials allegedly threatened to bulldoze two churches in that city because they are fighting the city’s coronavirus lockdown rules. Starnes explains: Matt Staver, the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, said Wednesday that churches that he represents have received letters from the city’s Board of Health that declared them “public nuisances.” The term may not seem like much on the surface, but he said, legally, it opens up these churches to a lot of problems. Staver read the letter on air that said the department “has the power and duty to cause all nuisances affecting the health of the public to be abated.” Staver said the letter threatened a “summary abatement,” which is legalese for the destruction of the facility without any judicial process or further notice. According to Liberty Counsel, candy canes are now in the sites of liberal wanting to wipe out any hint of Christ this Christmas season. The story of the Grinch who just about stole Christmas was reported by The Blaze. Liberty Counsel is a non-profit law firm that fights for religious liberty in the US and it recently sent a demand letter to the superintendent of Elkhorn Public Schools about the actions taken by Jennifer Sinclair the principal of of Manchester Elementary School in Omaha, Nebraska. Apparently, this is Sinclair’s first year as principal at the school and she wanted it to be a memorable one. It worked. She is getting her 15 minutes of notoriety. She sent a memo to teachers in her school telling them what their children may or may not do at school to celebrate the Christmas season. We are all readying ourselves for the hectic Christmas season. One of things we do is buy gifts for family and friends — a tradition handed down through the centuries from the gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh the magi gave Jesus shortly after the Lord’s birth (Matthew 2:11-12). Christmas is retailers biggest sales quarter with many selling as much merchandise in this period as they did the rest of the year. Just before Christmas, US-based Liberty Counsel publishes its ‘Naughty or Nice List”, that they have put out annually since 2002. The list is in response to the politically-correct climate that in recent years has tried to pressure companies and governments to remove any religious references in their Christmas messaging. Though Christmas Day is undoubtedly not Jesus’ true birthday, nevertheless the fact December 25 rose to prominence as a Christian religious holiday is undisputed. Did a college professor punish a girl with zero grades because of her Christian beliefs?
Liberty Counsel has taken on the case of a 16 year-old girl, referred to only as G.L. who as a high school student under a special program was also attending classes at Florida’s Polk State College. According to Liberty, G.L. had a grade point average of 3.9 in high school, but while attending a class taught by college humanities professor Lance Russum had received “0” marks on four assignments. Liberty alleges this happened because the young student would not allow herself to be influenced by the teacher’s strong anti-Christian, pro-marxist, pro-homosexual and pro-feminist beliefs.
