Jordan Smith, 2015 The Voice winner, provides a key to success

You may remember Jordan Smith, he was the believer that won Season 9 of The Voice in 2015. Raised in a Christian home of pastor parents, Jordan who also served as the church’s worship leader, attended Lee University a private Christian university based in Cleveland, Tennessee. It is interesting to note, that his success was due in part to perseverance, because he had previously auditioned for the show and been rejected. But he was accepted the second time and his first song, Chandelier, resulted in a four chair turn by the coaches that resulted in Jordan choosing Adam Levine as coach. During Season 9, he was the first artist from The Voice to top the iTunes pop chart when his song Great is Thy Faithfulness pushed ahead of Adele’s Hello to the number one spot. The song also placed number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on Billboard’s Christian Song chart. Jordan Smith singing ‘Mary, Did You Know’ WINS ‘The Voice’

Jordan Smith is a Christian and tonight he won The Voice. Last night in the finale, he sung the popular Christmas carol  Mary, Did You Know as part of his performance. Jordan, 21, attended Lee University, a Christian University operated by the Church of God. Based in Cleveland, TN, Lee is re-known for its chorale groups. According to CBN, Jordan’s parents are pastors in Harlan, Kentucky and Jordan has ministered as a worship leader. Christian recording artist Michael English first sang Mary, Did You Know  in 1991. English along with Mark Lowry, who wrote the lyrics, sang with Gaither Vocal Band. Buddy Greene wrote the music for this song that has gone on to become a modern Christmas classic. During the semifinals Jordan Smith sang Somebody to love. His rendition of this Queen classic topped the music charts on iTunes, outselling English mega pop star Adele. Jordan Smith stuns ‘The Voice’ with “Great is thy Faithfulness”

Jordan Smith is among the Top 12 on this year’s The Voice. Last night playing at the piano, Jordan stirred the audience with his rendition of “Great is thy Faithfulness.” It not only affected the crowd but even the judges were awed by his performance. Blake Shelton said: “Man, Jordan, you know, coming off the weekend, the horrible things that happened over in Paris, and just having a heavy heart over the last few days, thank you for that. That was beautiful.” Jordan’s coach on The Voice, Adam Levine added: “Sometimes, there’s so much about the world that can be so confusing and sad. Then you come along, and make us feel there’s a lot of hope.” The judges were not the only people moved by Jordan’s performance. Once the video was posted to YouTube, Kimiki Wolf commented: “Jordan Smith sang his song so well that I almost converted.” Jordan is a Christian and attended Lee University, a Liberal arts college operated by the Church of God. Jordan Smith’s spectacular blind performance on ‘The Voice’ wows the crowd and judges

Jordan Smith stunned the crowd at The Voice with his blind audition on September 21, 2015 when he sang “Chandelier.” Wowed by his performance, the crowd and four judges, all who turned their chairs, gave Jordan a standing ovation. Jordan is a senior at Lee University, a Liberal arts college in Cleveland, Tennessee. Operated by the Church of God, a Pentecostal denomination, it has consistently ranked among the top universities in the Southern US. Jordan eventually chose Adam Levine as his coach who described the young man as one of the most important people to be on The Voice. Jordan said: “I don’t know if I’m really happy or really scared.” Jordan sings with the Lee Singers, one of many choral groups at the university. This is not the first time the campus has gained recognition for singing performances by its students. Lee University Festival Choir was invited to sing at the 57th Presidential inauguration of Barack Obama held January 21, 2013.
