And you think you have problems: Other People

How big are your problems? This is the year when things really go wrong, and we all can feel the effects. The man with the most problems, that I know of, was Job. He lost everything that was important to him, including his children and his health. I remember reading his depressing story when I was young because I thought those Bible stories were good for me. It’s a depressing story about human suffering. “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.” (Job 3: 25 and 26) I didn’t feel pumped after reading the story, but I did learn something useful. God told Job about other parts of the world, when he complained about his suffering. “Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch when the doe bears her fawn?” (39: 1) and “Who let the wild donkey go free? Who untied its ropes?” (v 5) and “Will the wild ox consent …
