In the midst of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, security at the US Pentagon was on high alert. Thankfully, it was as reports are circulating of a chicken trying to breach the security fence surrounding the Pentagon early Monday morning, March 7, 2022.
According to The Sun, the break-in was thwarted, and security officials called in officers with the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) to arrest the felon.
With charges still pending, the AWLA provided more details of the detention on Facebook:
“Apparently, the answer to “why did the chicken cross the road” is…. to get to the Pentagon?!
“Very early this morning, this chicken was caught sneaking around the security area at the Pentagon (we’re not kidding) and our officers were called to come pick her up.
“Sgt Ballena brought her safely to the shelter where she’ll stay until we find a new home for her!”
In the same post, AWLA asked for name suggestions for the wayward chicken. They settled on Henny Penny, but my favourite was CHOTUS.
