Powerful testimony of healing after Prayer Summit. Hospital personnel were stopping by because they wanted to see a living miracle for themselves!
. . . . . . . . . . .
Earlier this month [March], the 2008 Assemblies of God National Prayer Summit was held in Springfield, Missouri, with Jim Cymbala, pastor of Brooklyn (New York) Tabernacle being the featured speaker for the three-day event.
However, during the time of corporate prayer on the morning of Tuesday, March 4, a special prayer request was brought before attendees. Jeremy Hahn, a church planter in Lawrence, Kansas, and son of AG headquarters employees Richard and Sharon Hahn, had been hospitalized. What began as a severe case of flu-like symptoms became much worse.
According to fellow church planters Todd and Jennifer Stanley, Jeremy developed encephalitis - an infection of the brain, which caused a pecan-sized lesion or sore. Jeremy was placed on a ventilator. The doctors warned Jeremy's wife Liz that IF he survived, his favorite colors, foods and even personality might change. In addition it was likely he would suffer paralysis and many physical handicaps.
Jeremy was placed in ICU as soon as he was stabilized on the first day of his hospital stay. Along with many other life supporting procedures, a tracheotomy (the insertion of a tube into the trachea portion of the neck for breathing purposes) was performed. It was also learned he had Influenza A and B, along with double pneumonia. At day 12 in the ICU a CT scan revealed the lesion in his brain was hemorrhaging.
Doctors indicated that this type of encephalitis, if untreated, results in a 70 percent mortality rate and 19 percent if treated. "At this point in time, is the first time I thought we might actually lose Jeremy," Richard says. "But then, they brought the prayer request before those attending the Prayer Summit."
At the Prayer Summit, the news of Jeremy's dire condition resulted in an extended time of fervent prayer for his healing and complete recovery. An offering was taken to help Jeremy and Liz with their mounting medical bills, and more that $11,000 was given. Combined with an offering given by AG headquarters employees, nearly $24,000 will be sent to the couple.
Yet, the doctors were saying that even if Jeremy survived, which at times looked doubtful, his rehabilitation would be extensive and time-consuming.
They were wrong.
Just nine days later, on March 13, Jeremy was sent home from the hospital - talking, walking, eating - with doctors having no medical explanation.
Jeremy says that prior to his release, hospital personnel kept stopping by. He would thank them for taking care of him, but many would admit they had not. In fact, the reason they were stopping by was they wanted to see a living miracle for themselves!
Although the miraculous recovery of Jeremy cannot be linked to just the 2008 Prayer Summit, as many individuals and churches were also lifting him up in prayer over the weeks, Richard says that the turning point coincided with the concentrated prayer at the summit.
"Jeremy spent 20 days in ICU, then after his miraculous recovery just three days in a regular hospital room, for a total of 23 days in the hospital." Richard says. "Jeremy is overwhelmed by the prayers offered and the generosity of the offerings taken to help him and Liz. He estimated his medical bills at just over $500,000.
