MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA (ANS) -- Young Chinmayi was not able to run and play like the other little children in her Madhya Pradesh, India, village.

At age five, Chinmayi was lame-and none of the doctors her parents visited had been able to help her walk. Not knowing what to do, Chinmayi's family then turned to homeopathic medicine and even sorcery-but these efforts, too, proved futile.

Then a Christian in their village suggested they take Chinmayi to the local church for prayer. They were hesitant at first, but then heeded the advice, asking Gospel for Asia missionary Malluram Pawar to pray for their little girl.

Touched by Chinmayi's situation, Malluram tenderly prayed for her. A week later when Malluram dropped by to check on Chinmayi, she was still lying in bed, unable to walk. But the missionary began to help Chinmayi rise to her feet and walk a little, encouraging her parents to do the same with her each day.

The following week, Chinmayi and her parents came to the church where Malluram served. People were astonished to see that this once-lame little girl could now walk on her own!

Chinmayi's whole family testified to the church of God's power-and everyone gave the glory to God that day. The family put their trust in Christ and started attending church regularly to worship and fellowship with other believers.

Pray that this family will steadily grow in their new faith, and that many more would receive Christ through Malluram's witness in this community. Praise God for the wonderful things He is doing through His people in Asia, proclaiming that He is alive and at work.

Gospel for Asia is a mission organization involved in evangelism and church planting in Asia's unreached regions. Currently Gospel for Asia supports more than 16,000 church planters in 10 countries.
